but the writer guesses as to how those passages could relate to modern technology.
So then perhaps you can explain how else two cities can be wiped off the face of the earth without the use of nuclear weapons during a time when supposedly no such technology existed.
How was Pompeii wiped off the face of the earth? It sure didn't have anything to do with nuclear technology.
I'm not suggesting a volcano destroyed the two cities, but again it comes down to interpretation. Maybe whatever local resources that made those cities what they were dried up and the cities died an economic death and fell into ruin. Maybe they were swallowed by the earth because of a major tectonic shift. Maybe they were destroyed by a tidal wave or a hurricane. Maybe it
was a nuke. There are a million and one explanations and interpretations for something as utterly vague as a city "disappearing".
Your problem is that you're TRYING to explain things like events described in the Bible. The whole idea of religion is faith, and faith wouldn't be necessary if there was concrete, indisputable evidence one way or another. Faith implies that you believe despite the fact that there are unknowns. Some people have faith in Christianity, some in other religions, and yet others have faith in science. None of them can explain it all. All of them leave unknowns.
